So here I am, writing my first blog entry.
It feels...
AWESOME!
Ok, enough with the innuendos. Let's get rolling.
I came across this cute little DIY earlier today and went through my mental checklist I do with every DIY I encounter:
1. Do I have all the supplies (so I don't have to go to the store = staying in my sweat pants)
2. Can I knock this out in under an hour (or is it super time consuming and requiring a day to plan)
3. Is it cute and creative
With an enthusiastic 'YES' answering all three questions, I was ready to give this one a try.

MATERIALS | STEPS |
Brown lunch bag Yellow, black, and green paint Paint Brush Scissors Twine | 1. Paint 2/3 of the bag yellow, 1/3 green 2. Paint thin strikes (or humps) of black for a cute pineapple design. Finish with black dots. 3. Cut long, thin triangles to represent the leaves on the green-painted portion. 4. Fill with goodies and secure with twine. |
Easy enough, right?
So here was my attempt:
So here was my attempt:
Half way through, I started feeling really good about this project. The colors were exactly what I was anticipating, my painting skills didn't suck, and my dogs weren't getting too bored watching me paint a paper bag.
Result: Happy
I am pleased with how this little fruity bag turned out. I ended up using gouache as my paint because of its true color properties, and I'm glad I did. The vibrant canary yellow and mistletoe green really pop against an otherwise dreary brown bag. Now don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no clue how I will use this new found craft in my life, but I promise you, I will find a way!
Success!
